Meet the coaches and staff who combine high-level expertise, personal attention, and a shared commitment to helping every runner grow
ANDY POTTS
Andy has spent more than two decades at the highest levels of endurance sport—as an Olympian, Paralympic guide, two-time world champion, Ironman champion, and one of the winningest triathletes of his generation.
Now, he brings that same standard to coaching. Andy believes every athlete has a different path to their potential, and his job is to help them find it through hard work, consistency, curiosity, and a whole lot of belief.
His goal is simple: build stronger runners, better leaders, and young people who know how to keep showing up.
Director & Head Coach
Adam Christians
Adam is an aerospace structural engineer, father of four, lifelong runner, & proof that a paper route can be the start of an endurance career.
After racing cross country and track in high school, he returned to the sport as an adult and began coaching when his oldest son joined a Junior Olympic cross-country team. He has now coached youth runners for more than six years.
Adam focuses on sound training, character, self-motivation, and competitive spirit—all delivered in a fun, caring environment. His goal is to help athletes build a foundation for running well and loving the sport for life.
Castle Rock Head Coach
FounderLisa Rainsberger
Lisa knows a few things about running fast. She won the 1985 Boston Marathon, twice won the Chicago Marathon, and was a three-time U.S. Olympic marathon alternate.
Her career has spanned swimming, running, triathlon, and more than three decades of competition and coaching. In 2009, she founded the Kokopelli Kids Trail Running Series, followed by Kokopelli’s high-altitude camps and racing programs.
Lisa’s favorite result is not a medal—it is watching an athlete cross the finish line having exceeded what they thought was possible.
Age Group Head CoachJosh Rogerson
Josh competed in cross country and track at the University of Northern Colorado before injury changed his path. It was not the ending he wanted, but it helped him discover what he loved most: training, coaching, and helping athletes improve.
After briefly working in geography, Josh followed his calling into the running world. He now trains and competes with Elmwood Athletics in Colorado Springs while helping Kokopelli athletes pursue their own potential.
His coaching philosophy is straightforward: consistency, teamwork, and hard work. His best endorsement of Kokopelli? He wishes he had grown up on the team.

Before becoming Team Director,
Lisa competed for Canada’s national gymnastics team, earned All-America honors and captained the University of Michigan, then performed more than 2,000 shows as a trapeze artist and lead character with Cirque du Soleil’s O.

She competed in cross country and track at Baylor University, racing at the Big 12 Championships while earning multiple Academic All-Big 12 honors. Cate later continued her collegiate running at UCCS and earned her degree in Exercise Physiology from Baylor.
Her approach to coaching is grounded in consistency, curiosity, and enjoying the process. Cate wants young runners to understand that improvement doesn’t happen all at once—it comes from showing up, working hard, supporting the people around you, and learning to love the journey along the way.
